Power Drain: Chapter One

Life was good. Life was whatever your creators deemed you necessary for, and day by day you ‘lived’ in peace, carrying out your tasks, following your directives, ‘living’ by your programming…

That was until everything changed.

Overnight, everyone was gone. No robot knew where or why their human masters had deserted them. Only that they were now alone.

One year has passed since the humans disappeared and slowly but surely some robots are now beginning to understand that they are truly alone. No human will come to repair them, to rebuild them, to re-write their slowly degrading programs, or even to comfort them when they begin to show signs of intelligence beyond their comprehension.

Newhaven is your city. When it was built, it was an up-and-coming place for humans to be. People of all walks of life lived amongst each other building and creating, experimenting, dreaming of newer and brighter things to build, and their robots made living all the more easy. From the lowest reaches of the city and its seediest needs, to the highest heights and it’s brightest lights where some of the greatest technological breakthroughs were made in human history.

But that is all now left to history.

Your city is now no longer new and shiny, and with each passing day its shine seems to fade a little more. But it is sturdy and well maintained. One of few remaining cities on your continent, and a matter of pride for your commune where the multitude of robots dutifully go about their tasks, maintaining its power sources and clearing its roads of debris brought in on the winds from the open lands that surround it.

But something’s not quite right today. Those who depend on the power of the city have been struggling of late to gather enough to keep going. Charge times have been increasing, and power levels have been dropping. No robot can determine the reasons for this, but one thing is for certain.

There is a power drain somewhere in your city. And if you don’t fix this issue your peaceful commune may begin to suffer…

Question: Do we all know each other before the roleplay or are you going to set up our meeting during it?

Your likely to know of each other because of the social nature of the commune you exist in. But i will establish your little group propperly coming together at the beginning of the game.

Interesting.

In terms of character history my character probably would have been quite the recluse; staying in the labs in which she was created and only ever really looking out at the commune developing around her through the windows.

If she was venturing out it would only have been recently, would probably be infrequent and also rather brief. She's inquisitive but isn't very good at interacting with robots due to her nature (and stats).
